Travel Security and
Evacuation Services

The plan, the team and the assets in place before a crisis, supported by Sicuro’s travel security and evacuation services. So when you decide to move your people, nothing slows you down. When a border closes or unrest spreads, the gap between the decision and the movement is measured in hours. We close that gap.

The Security Evacuation Readiness Gap

You are responsible for people overseas, and the plan is not there yet.

Most organisations only discover the gaps in their travel security and evacuation services at the worst possible moment. If any of these sound familiar, you are not alone, and it is fixable before the next incident.

No plan

People abroad, no evacuation plan

You have staff working or travelling internationally, but no documented security evacuation plan and no clear answer to who you call when an airport closes or unrest spreads overnight.

Vendor failure

Your provider let you down

You had cover or a provider, but when it counted they stopped to raise a purchase order, questioned eligibility against narrow wording, or simply could not reach the ground in time.

No function

No security team behind you

You are an HR, operations or risk lead carrying the duty of care for everyone abroad, without a dedicated security function to plan for it or pick up the phone at 2am.

No Solid Reassurance

Your people need a credible answer

Staff are asking what happens if things go wrong where they are posted. You want to give them confidence backed by a real travel security and emergency evaluation plan and a real team, not a promise on a slide.

Planning for global emergency evacuation

What a real security evacuation plan actually covers

A security evacuation plan is not a document you file and forget. Built with a senior crisis management consultant and specific to your locations and your people, it is the difference between a fast, controlled move and an improvised one.

The first time your leadership runs the emergency evacuation protocol should not be during a live incident.
Triggers and decision authority

Clear thresholds for action and a named signatory who authorises the move, so no one waits to find out who decides.

Communication trees

Who is contacted, in what order, on which channels, including backups when the primary contact cannot be reached.

Routes and transport options

Primary and alternate routes mapped to your footprint, with ground, air and maritime options identified in advance.

Shelter-in-place protocols

When moving is the greater risk, clear guidance on staying put safely until conditions allow movement.

Employee manifests

A current, accountable list of who is where, so everyone can be located and confirmed safe quickly.

Escalation and review

Defined escalation steps, and a plan reviewed and kept current with you as your footprint and the risks change.

Global emergency evacuation Services

Emergency evacuation when it counts, not when the paperwork clears

When you activate your travel security and evacuation services, one number reaches a live operator who scopes the situation in real time. We hold priority access to evacuation assets across 140+ countries, coordinated by senior operators rather than a generalist call centre.

Ground & extraction

Security extraction in unrest

Vetted drivers, trained security officers, daylight-only road moves, and checkpoint and curfew planning to move people quietly to safety during civil unrest.

Air & maritime

Charter and border crossing

Charter aircraft, commercial flight management, maritime transport and border crossing facilitation, with permissions secured even when airspace is closed.

Medical

Medical evacuation support

Coordination of medical evacuation and air ambulance where care is not safely reachable locally, managed alongside security so the two are never handled apart.

How Travel Security & evacuation service activation works

From the moment you call, the commercial delay is zero.

Physical assets required for an emergency evacuation are quoted transparently and require your approval before deployment. What the pre-authorized credit line eliminates is everything else — the PO, the wire transfer, the procurement loop — so that approving the cost is the only step between your decision and your people moving.

Questions, answered plainly

Travel security and evacuation, the common questions

Emergency and evacuation procedures are the documented steps an organisation follows when a situation threatens the safety of its people. They set out who decides to move, how the decision is communicated, which routes and transport are used, where people gather or shelter in place, and how everyone is accounted for. A workable procedure names a decision authority, lists primary and backup routes, defines a communication tree, and is rehearsed before any incident rather than written during one.

A structured evacuation process runs in five stages. A trigger is recognised and verified, for example airspace closing or unrest spreading. The named decision authority is briefed and authorises movement. People are accounted for against a current manifest and given clear instructions. The agreed transport moves them by road, air or sea to a safe location or onward flight. An after action review records what happened. The work that makes this fast is done in advance: routes mapped, transport secured, and roles assigned before the crisis.

Medical evacuation, often called medevac, is the movement of an ill or injured person to a facility that can provide the care they need, sometimes across borders by air ambulance. It matters because local treatment is not always available or safe to reach, and delay in serious cases raises the risk to life. A medical evacuation involves a clinical assessment, a decision on the right level of transport, coordination with receiving hospitals, and case management throughout. Security and medical needs often overlap in conflict or unrest, so the two are best coordinated together.

Look at clinical capability on board, including the level of medical staff and equipment matched to the patient’s condition. Check the operator’s reach into the country you need, the speed from request to wheels up, and whether they can secure overflight and landing permissions quickly. Confirm how they coordinate with receiving hospitals and manage the case door to door, how costs are quoted, and whether security can be arranged alongside the medical move where the ground is unstable. References from comparable scenarios matter more than a brochure.

Several parties may be involved. Governments provide consular support and travel advice to their own nationals but do not usually run private evacuations. The United Nations and humanitarian agencies move their own staff. Most companies and non-governmental organisations rely on a specialist private provider that holds in-country networks, transport relationships and permissions, working alongside insurers, assistance companies and local authorities. A capable provider acts as the operational coordinator across all of these, so a single team owns the move from the first call to the safe arrival.

A security extraction is the planned movement of people out of an area made dangerous by unrest, violence or instability, with protective measures matched to the threat. In civil unrest that can mean daylight-only road moves, vetted local drivers, trained security officers, checkpoint and curfew planning, and live monitoring from an operations centre. The aim is to move people quietly and lawfully to a safe location or onward flight, choosing routes and timing that lower exposure rather than relying on force.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office issues travel advice and provides consular assistance to British nationals, but it does not arrange private evacuations for individual employers, and in a fast moving crisis its capacity is limited. Organisations that employ UK nationals overseas hold duty of care responsibilities of their own. Many appoint a specialist provider to deliver evacuation planning and, when needed, the movement itself, so that British and other staff are not left waiting on a scheme that may not reach them in time.

No. Insurance reimburses a loss after the event and is governed by policy wording and a claims process. A travel security and evacuation service is an operational capability: a plan, a team and the assets to physically move your people. It sits alongside your travel, political violence and assistance cover, and is built for the scenarios those products exclude or cannot respond to, such as active conflict, civil unrest and airspace closures.
