With more than two decades of professional experience spanning military intelligence, Human Intelligence (HUMINT), corporate investigations, geopolitical analysis and strategic risk advisory, John works with multinational corporations, investors, law firms and executive leadership teams seeking to understand, enter and operate effectively across complex and emerging African markets.
His work focuses on helping organisations make better-informed commercial decisions before entering new markets, selecting partners, deploying capital or expanding existing operations. His areas of expertise include market-entry and re-entry intelligence, enhanced due diligence, stakeholder and influence mapping, political and regulatory intelligence, corporate investigations, fraud and asset tracing, supply-chain intelligence, brand protection and strategic risk assessment.
John’s approach combines strategic analysis with field-level intelligence and established regional networks. This enables clients to move beyond conventional desktop research and gain a clearer understanding of the commercial relationships, informal networks, political dynamics, reputational risks and market realities that can materially affect investment and business outcomes across Africa.
His earlier career included service within the Kenya Defence Forces, including military intelligence appointments. That experience continues to shape his intelligence-led approach to corporate decision-making, combining source development, verification, analysis and operational execution.
John has led and supported complex assignments across East, West, Central and Southern Africa, working across sectors including energy, mining, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, financial services, manufacturing, logistics, telecommunications, technology and international development.
He also serves as a member of the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Africa Steering Committee and contributes to regional dialogue on corporate security, intelligence, duty of care and organisational resilience.
John is an active speaker, moderator and commentator on corporate intelligence, African market entry, geopolitical risk, investigations, HUMINT and strategic risk management. His media and industry engagements have included CNBC Africa, KTN News, ASIS International forums and Sicuro Group’s Africa-focused thought-leadership platforms.
